The Secrets to Branding-the myths and the realities
by admin on Mar.22, 2010, under Advertising
The advertising guru’s around the world are still trying to define the exact
definition of branding and why one brand scores better over others and why
others fail to generate customer confidence even though everything seems to be
going right.
Is it the logo?
Is it the color?
Is it the design of your ads, your brochures, the packaging of your
products/services, the look of your corporate office, etc?
Or could it be the promise that a particular product conveys as it pertains to
the promise, the quality and the credibility?
Even though it is a combination of all of these points is is primarily the
promise The promise is the reason that some products deliver a high recall and
loyalty for their brand.
Some products no matter how big the budget, fail to deliver the promise
effectively so that as a brand people keep coming back.
There are two vital things that must be in place to develop brand loyalty. The
proper mix must exist, the quality of your product and the proper marketing mix
to reach your customers.
Step One:
1. You must have a good quality product that delivers on performance. The
product must be coupled with warranties and the right kind of value for the
customers money. With this in place you have the ammunition you need to win the
marketing war.
It is not enough to have a slick looking logo or great color combination and
some hip ads splashed all over the media.
You must first know, what exactly is required to build up brand equity for your
product. As an Internet guru explains, a brand is like the cherry on top of an
ice-cream pie where it conveys the brand’s promise. In fact, how you brand your
corporate identity goes a long way in establishing your product/service in
customer conscience.
While the ice-cream scoops stand for your products and services, the apples
represent your corporate environment and crust in the pie is actually your
systems and how effectively they work and respond to customers.
How does a brand convey its promise?
That’s actually quite an interesting way to look at branding. This promise of
the brand is conveyed through quite a few factors:
1.The product’s reputation (the company’s own reputation also goes a long way
here),
2. Its experience (particularly if the product has been in the market for some
time
3. The product’s name a catchy, easy to remember name helps
4. Its logo though innocuous looking, a logo is a stamp of authority
5. Its positioning in the market and accordingly its pricing
6. News and reviews about it the web 2.0 world is all about sharing notes,
information and experiences through social networking sites and what is written
about has become vitally important
7. Advertising a good tag line or slogan can race into public memory
8. Marketing collateral depends upon your product/service and what media suits
it best such as flyers, sales letters, direct mailers, and so on)
Developing a promotional mix depends on the character or features of the
product/service. For instance for some products/services may just need a direct
marketing campaign and not TVCs or print ads at all, such as home-based
businesses.
Or some such as debt management services may bank on a well done corporate video
production to create a brand presence in business fairs.
5 Simple and Easy Ways to Advertise Online
by admin on Feb.23, 2010, under Online Advertising
On the Internet and in most business advertising is everything. You do not make any money when you have no visitors to your web site. But just any visitor will not do. These visitors must be targeted traffic otherwise they will not even take a second look at your web site once they get there.
There are services that you can purchase and you will actually see a substantial rise in all the hits to your site but this is not targeted traffic and more than likely they are not looking for what you offer and will speed right on by your offer.
Traffic Exchange services will not benefit you in any way unless you are offering a method for new traffic You see the people that join these services join for a specific reason . They are trying to get traffic to their web site but once again it is not targeted traffic that is looking.
Bottom-line is this. You need targeted traffic. So here are some tips on how you can generate exactly the traffic you need and bring the visitors you want to your web site without having to chase after them.
1. Content
What is your web site about? Do you just have a page with a lot of links and not much else?
Search engines do not rank web sites that are just a bunch of links. If you do not have content that has value then you will never be seen. You must consider things like:
1. The title of your page
2. The keywords that you are using in the title and in the body of the page.
3. The keyword density
If you don’t think that you can write your own content then you can go to any one of hundreds of article directories and reprint articles on your web site.
2. Talk about your direct experiences in your web site content
Use your own experiences in your writing. You can talk about things that you are doing in relation to your web site content. As an example if you have a woodworking site then you can write about the last project you built and the trials and tribulations ,if any that went along with that process. Include pictures if you have them.
3. Forums and bulletin boards.
You could add a forum or a bulletin board to your web site. There is plenty of free software that you can install on your web site to create a forum or bulletin board. You can also drive traffic to your web site by participating in other forums and bulletin boards. Most of these allow you to have a link to your web site in your signature line. Make sure you do not violate the rules of each site or they will throw you out!
4. Start a blog.
Blogs are by far one of the best and fastest ways to create traffic to your site. The free plugins that are available are fantastic way to build your blog. There are plugins that will automatically add your new posts to twitter and facebook. This cuts way down on the additional work of adding content to all of your social media platforms.
The search engines really love Blogs too. If you write regular content the search engines will re index your content and keep you in the top pages.
5. Write articles.
Writing articles isn’t hard and can be a great source of fresh, new traffic to your web site. There are a lot of ezines on any topic out there and there are also a lot of directories where you can share your article.
The best articles are 400-600 words and do well in article directories. You will be surprised on how quickly you reach this many words. Many times I realize after writing an article that I need to split the content into 2 or 3 different articles. You are allowed to have a resource box that tells a bit about yourself and a link to your web site. This is a tremendous way to build valuable links back to your web site. And this is extremely targeted traffic.
There are added benefits to using these methods. As you begin to write articles or add posts to your blog you create yourself as an expert. Not only to others but you build the confidence in yourself that can keep you going. Many times you start out thinking that you do not know enough to write an article and if you push through that feeling and do it you will realize that you have a wealth of information available.
Best of all, these 5 simple tips will bring targeted traffic, meaning the visitors are coming to you because they are interested in what you wrote.
Free Traffic with Traffic Exchanges
by admin on Feb.17, 2010, under Traffic Exchanges
First of all you may be wondering what is a traffic exchange. A traffic exchange is basically an exchange of web site views. You look at other people’s web sites and they will in turn look at yours. As you view the other member’s web sites you earn credits. These credits determine how many times that your web site is viewed by other members.
There are basically 4 ways to earn credits when using a traffic exchange:
- Surf the traffic exchange to earn credits
- You can purchase credits from the traffic exchange owner
- If you upgrade your account which involves a monthly fee then you are given a certain amount of credits with your membership
- You can refer others to the exchange and you earn credits from the referrals.
You can usually advertise all of the following:
- A web site page of your choice. In many exchanges you can rotate between multiple web pages
- You can use a banner
- You can use a text link
The major benefit to using a traffic exchange is that the traffic can be obtained free or at least in exchange for your time to surf for credits.
The downside to using a traffic exchange is that many people use them and do gain any useful traffic. This is largely due to the user setting up thier standard web site and hoping that everyone viewing the site will immediately sign up.
It’s not gonna happen!
You need to understand the mentality of the other surfers which is not far off from your own reasons for joining a traffic exchange. YOU WANT TRAFFIC!
You must offer something that your target audience wants. And you only have seconds to capture the attention of the surfer. This means that you should be offering something that will increase the surfers traffic and you must introduce this to the surfer with a lead capture page.
A lead capture page is a page designed to:
- Capture attention quickly
- Give just enough information for the surfer to want more
- Easy capture the surfers information so that you can follow up with a series of information messages.
Free eBooks are a quick way to capture attention and get new sign ups from people looking for traffic. If you are not using these simple methods then you will probably fail at traffic exchanges. If you are ready to try your hand at traffic exchanges I list a few below that I use on a regular basis to get free traffic.
